Tired
I am tired.
After the tragedy in Minneapolis I am getting even more
tired of what is all going on in the world.
I am tired of turning on the news and seeing more innocent
people being killed.
I am tired of families being impacted and traumatized.
I am tired of people from both sides blaming the other side,
instead of actually trying to do something about it.
I am tired of the insults, pointed fingers, and blame game
that we play while people get killed.
I am tired of listening to politicians talk in front of
cameras about what a tragedy this is, how things need to change, and then go
back to yelling at one another and not getting anything done.
I am tired of our elected politicians caring more about
their re-election than doing what is right.
I am tired of political commenters, talking heads on the
news, and anyone with a camera talking about all of the issues, about how much
the world sucks, giving us updates by the second, giving us breaking news,
interviewing experts, and sharing facts and statistics while they do nothing to
solve the problem.
I am tired of social media posts that come after every
tragedy like this, and the lack of initiative people take to actually go and change
things.
I am tired of people thinking that the same actions they
have always taken will generate different results, they don’t. We know that.
I am tired of people believing that they cannot do anything
but post on social media, watch the news, or write a letter to your
representative. There is so much more you can do.
Go volunteer with an organization that will help solve the problem,
not just villainize the other side.
Go talk with someone who you do not agree with and
understand how you can come together and build a community.
Continue to be a good human being to everyone you meet, even
when they do not deserve it.
Stop trying to prove our point and start wanting to understand.
Stop electing politicians who do nothing but argue, yell,
and scream.
You do not need to have all the answers, I certainly don’t
but there is one thing I know. What we are currently doing is not working and
we all need to change.
